About EAQ Grass Roots
EAQ Grass Roots is an EAQ approved centre located on a small farm in Crowhurst, Surrey. With our horses’ and dogs’ assistance, we facilitate sessions using specialist communication techniques that help our learners to move into self-directed activity and enable them to recognise and meet their own needs.
EAQ Grass Roots offers equine assisted learning sessions to children and young people who:
- may not be in full time mainstream education
- may have been excluded from school
- will benefit from a different approach to learning
- need different levels of support
- may have complex diagnosis including learning difficulties, social, emotional and behavioural needs, ASD, PDA, school refusal.
We take a person-centred approach that encourages experiential learning, and we produce a unique programme for each individual that facilitates and develops academic learning, self-awareness and energy regulation, amongst other things. Programmes can include working towards nationally recognised qualifications from Entry Level to Level 3 including a Level 1 Certificate for Skills for Professions in Animal Care.
Our sessions predominantly take place outdoors, but our centre does have some undercover and indoor spaces too.
